V-date at UP Grounds Diliman

February is indeed a love month, and for some, it’s the time to think of ways on how and where to spend Valentine’s day with their love ones. I’ll say, break the fine dining set-up, or a night at the hotel because for the past few years, single or not, I have to share to you guys my way of spending V-day without totally ruining my budget. To all who are planning a special night to spend on the all-love-day, you guys may want to include this on your must do on February list. This is the time of the year where I embrace youth again and be part of the UP Fair 2013 at the Diliman Sunken Garden inside the campus.

What will a Pinoy space traveller be called?

When I was in pre-school, my definition of “Astronaut” is someone who travels to the moon. I remember I always answer “I want to be an Astronaut” when someone asked me what I want to be when I grew up. I thought it was the coolest thing that time, since everyone would want to be either a teacher or a doctor. As I grew “smarter”, I found out that that an Astronaut is someone who literally travel to the outer space…well it’s not really isolated in the moon’s land area, but it’s beyond it.

Beijing – opening door to tourists without Visa

In hope to increase the tourism industry in Beijing, China, the country’s tourism department started a visa-waiver program which will give tourist a break from the tedious process of visiting the city’s famous landmarks for trips or vacation.

The program will give way to all business travelers and tourists from 45 countries, in which they can visit and stay in Beijing for 72 hours or 3 days, without visa.  Transit passengers from Canada, United States, members of European Union, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, South Korea, Japan and the United Arab Emirates, are just some of the eligible nationalities to take advantage of this program.

January 1, 2013 is the date to mark on the calendar to all qualified tourist, who can visit the famous Forbidden City, experience motor homes show, finest camping facilities and watch plays at Beijing Theatre.  As what the announcement stated that they are allowing, “….foreigners from 45 countries with visas and plane tickets to a third country to transit through Beijing for 72 hours without a visa.” This is indeed a good news for business men and travelers alike, because it will open both ways for China to present their greatest city to the world and diversify business opportunities.

Bad news is, Philippines is not listed in the countries included in the program. There is really no reason to feel bad about it because, still all Filipino travelers can go to Beijing, though they only need to pass the migration office in the airport just like other travelers, and have their Visa approved.

Cine Europa 15 in Manila

Movies nowadays can be a little bit pricey, especially if it’s a blockbuster hit. But thanks to Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines and Shangri-La Cineplex, because they are providing admission to the finest European films, for free!

The film festival started 4 days ago, and I find it as a great portal for us to learn more about the European culture and a chance for all of us to watch quality films, which discuss about politics, love, society and family. It’s a first come, first serve set-up, so I really suggest to check out the movie you like to watch, and be there about 30-45 minutes before the film starts because you really have to endure the line and wait, or you won’t have the chance to choose a good seat inside the movie house. Though there are times where in they need to change the movie schedules, so it won’t hurt if you ask the personnel in the ticket booth for any changes in the movie line-ups.

Selected movies from Romania, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Denmark, Finland, Swiss, Sweden, France, United Kingdom and Germany, will be featured in this wonderful festival. Here’s a full list of the movie schedule:

For this year’s Cine Europa, not only you’ll get to watch free movie, but they are also giving away 1 KLM economy class ticket to Europe. To know more about this ongoing event, check out http://eeas.europa.eu/delegations/philippines/more_info/cineeuropa/cineeuropa_en.htm and you’ll also get to see some movie synopsis. You may also want to check them out in their Facebook page, at https://www.facebook.com/EUDelegationToThePhilippines.

So see you all at Shang Cineplex, Cinema 2, Shangri-La Plaza Mandaluyong City!

Not your ordinary cup of tea…

If you’re a fan of this famous tea store in the metro, you definitely know what I’m talking about! For those who heard it for the first time, this is where people enjoy their Hokkaido Milk Tea, Minty Choco Milk Tea, Frost series tea and 10 sinkers mixed in their drink…well, let me introduce or reintroduce to you Serenitea.

They’ve started December of 2008, and now they have opened their 18th branch at Space 7&8 G/F Bonifacio One Technology Tower, 3030 Rizal Drive West Corner 31st St. Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Well, from St. Lukes Hospital Taguig, you just have to walk or drive to the 31st St., and thier store is just beside BPI bank, across the Pancake House and First Bus stop from Kalayaan. They’ve started thier soft opening on July 15 of this year, and hell, my officemates who really introduced Serenitea in our workplace are really excited that we have to check the store for a week to see if it has opened. Now, it’s open to the public so tea lovers and those who pretends that they love tea because it’s the latest fad, well, here’s a new place where you get to enjoy what you love the most – customizing your tea, making it not an average blant one.

Checking out the place, it’s as comely as their other store…well aside from the one in Eastwood (hehehe). It’s green and cream colored store is really inviting, because the interior of the place itself is really cozy. Just like any other Serenitea store, they have limited seats and few tables, where one can spend or kill time at.

One thing I like this latest fad is aside from they make and serve high quality of freshly brewed tea, it’s really a healthy alternative for sodas, coffee and calorie-packed smoothies. Teas has proven it’s self to be one of the healthiest drink, and Serenitea is serving it in a fun and refreshing way. At Serenity BGC, they haven’t said when will be the grand opening, but one of thing that every fan should look forward to is on their grand day, they will upgrade your large drink to jumbo for free!

Check out their website at www.iloveserenitea.com and like thier facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/iloveserenitea. So all you guys who work within St.Lukes Taguig or 31st St., or just anybody who happened to drop by the area, give yourself a break from your ordinary drink and treat yourself for a cup of Serenitea. For first timers, there’s nothing to fear because you can ask for their best seller from the store manager 😉
